An eight-player open-world action RPG with Souls-lite combat called Dimraeth entered Steam Early Access on September 15 and has already earned an 80% positive rating from over 2,000 players, reaching a concurrent player count of approximately 11,000. Developed by Mudtek, the game has been described by fans as “the love child of Elden Ring and Stardew Valley,” a comparison rooted in its Souls-inspired combat mechanics and pixel art style.
What sets Dimraeth apart is the contrast between intense Souls-lite battles and cozy base-building segments. Players take on the role of mighty heroes fighting beasts and mythical creatures across an open-world map, then return to build and customize their bases in a relaxed atmosphere. The game is priced at $21.99 and offers 15 to 20 hours of content across three chapters in its Early Access campaign.
The game’s combat is challenging but fair, with stamina management, dodge rolls, and a variety of weapons and spells. Bosses are a highlight, each with unique attack patterns and weaknesses. The base-building system is surprisingly deep, allowing players to construct walls, traps, farms, and crafting stations. Resources are gathered from the world and from defeated enemies. The game supports both solo and co-op play, with enemy scaling based on the number of players.
However, the game has faced some criticism for weak dialogue, with some players raising concerns about possible AI involvement in character interactions. Mudtek has responded by saying that all dialogue was written by human writers and that they are working on improving it in future updates. The Early Access version includes three races (Human, Elf, Orc) and three classes (Warrior, Mage, Ranger), with more planned.
Mudtek has outlined a roadmap for Early Access, including new biomes, bosses, and a PvP mode. The first major update, “The Frozen North,” will add a snow biome and a new dungeon.
